As the beautiful 610 Motoryacht "SILVER SKYE" journeyed through the northeast U.S. this past summer, cruising couple Nick and Robin enjoyed an informative and memorable visit to Ocean Alliance, located in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Photos of their visit showcase their dockage in front of the iconic Ocean Alliance building, two signs sharing its history and mission, a selfie by a local art installation in Rocky Neck, and a schooner at sunset. Also included is a photo of the monument to lost mariners…the wall on opposite side of the monument includes hundreds/thousands of names of lost mariners dating back several hundred years to the latest (2009).
Ocean Alliance, Inc., is dedicated to the conservation of whales and their marine environment through research and education. The organization is based in the iconic Tarr & Wonson Paint Manufactory in Gloucester, Massachusetts, United States. It was founded in 1971 by biologist Roger Payne.
