We are on our second to last leg home off the coast of Virginia in 4-6+ head seas and thought it would be good to say thank you for making such an incredible vessel, that meets all of our objectives outlined for the new build. ANA LUISA is stunning inside and out and provides such a soft ride compared to our prior vessel.
We know everyone put in extra hours so we could meet our time frame. The shakedown trip has been a great learning experience with her. It is tough to decide what we love best, but we guess it’s the soft ride (we did 15 knots from Fort Lauderdale to Fort Pierce in less than ideal conditions and could not believe how solid and gentle she was), she handles like a much smaller vessel when maneuvering, the proportional hydraulic thrusters got a good work out in the hour and half we were stuck between Railroad bridge and Andrews Avenue on the New River, so we are now experts and they are the perfect addition to her, the electronics are phenomenal, as we had two all-night runs. The stabilizers do an amazing job in all conditions and the appliances are high-end and functional - stovetop boils water in minutes and grill is essential gear given how big and hot it is. She is a bit big for the ICW, but certainly turned a lot of heads.
We learned a few things which will serve us well going forward: take it slow and you will be safe and comfortable, but if needed to get ahead of the weather, she can do 15 knots in some not so nice stuff. Engine room is easy to move around in, even in the big stuff, so put on your head gear and visit frequently, even though the cameras give an HD view. Outer Reef is an amazing group of people who are committed to building the best seagoing pleasure craft possible. Great people always make a difference!
I turned 59 on her and hope to still have her when I turn 70. Thank you for the beginning of a wonderful adventure.
