I am the owner of SAELA (ex TASMAN). I wanted write you a note to express what an incredibly positive experience we had working with Outer Reef Yachts for the refit. Deborah and Randy, along with their vetted list of contractors and vendors, have delivered a high quality result with virtually no stress for my wife and I. Both of them are such nice people and made the whole experience feel non-transactional. Their experience made seemingly complex issues become trivial.
Also, I cannot say enough about Joel and his patience in trying to make the purchase happen and to go smoothly. He’s a true gentleman and has an incredible instinct around the personalities involved.
For the refit we had great bones to start with of course and all vendors were very good but Alex O’Rourke of Atention to Detail was instrumental. When previously considering the boat, I always felt a complete paint job was necessary. Alex proved me wrong by doing a trial area which made for a reasonable offer without painting. It speaks to the quality of the gelcoat on a 19 year old boat that enabled restoration to near new condition with the skill of an expert. I could go on about many other Outer Reef Yacht quality aspects and associated contractors that made the restoration more feasible but in the end we were able to restore/refit to a high standard and within a reasonable budget.
If any of your team would like to show SAELA as an example of what can be accomplished, I would invite the opportunity for them to show to others. She will always be available for this purpose.
A final note... we previously owned a 2010 Outer Reef 650 in 2017/18. I damaged a prop and was looking for a recommendation for a yard in Fort Lauderdale. At the time this was incredibly stressful for us so I called Outer Reef Yachts for a recommendation. The receptionist put me in touch with Randy. He then coordinated the whole thing with a few phone calls and stopped by daily to ensure things were going smoothly. This was outstanding to us, especially considering the selling broker was Marlow. That experience demonstrated the commitment to the Outer Reef brand and was very impactful on our decision to purchase SAELA.
