Eight Seasons Later: Why They'd Choose Outer Reef Again
Purchasing a long-range yacht is about much more than selecting the right design or cruising capability, it's about choosing the company that will stand behind you for years to come. When David and Ana purchased their 2018 Outer Reef 700 Classic Motoryacht, ANA LUISA, they were looking for more than a beautifully built yacht. They wanted a true blue water cruiser backed by a builder that would remain committed to their ownership experience well beyond delivery. Today, after eight memorable cruising seasons, they say that's exactly what they've found. Here is the story in their own words:
Jeff, I just wanted to underscore how grateful we are to you and the whole team at Outer Reef. My last vessel (previous to Outer Reef) was bought new and that was more or less the extent of the relationship with that dealer and brand. After owning/operating her for fifteen plus years and dealing with every OEM you can imagine when there was a problem, we were looking for a great "blue water" cruiser but with a builder who would always be there for us. So we had fun shopping around but we kept coming back to Outer Reef. Joel (Davidson, Sales Representative with Outer Reef) could not have been more informed or nicer for that matter vs his peers. After speaking with other owners, it did confirm that after sales support is a priority. It was not a surprise in the first year or two that we always had access to and the support of the broad Outer Reef organization (from wipers to dumb questions). But what is amazing is that in our eighth season we still have the same access and support. This is truly a game changer for an owner/operator from a maintenance and repair perspective. Trouble shooting on your own and dealing with OEMs can be incredibly frustrating and expensive as it may take you a few tries to get to the right solution. Outer Reef has eliminated that part of boat ownership for me as I now have Outer Reef getting me to the right people at the OEM level and almost always I am buying the right part to fix the issue. A good example of this is my recent experience with my 100 amp Iso-booster. I could not have figured out what was my issue plugging into various docks these last two years without Randy (one of those issues that doesn't always happen and you attribute to the visiting dock's electrical infrastructure). He walked me through the various steps to isolate what may be the issue and then connected me with ANG (I got the parts within a week). There have been more than a few projects where Outer Reef (typically Randy) gave me the knowledge which resulted in the confidence to fix an issue that I have had no experience fixing.
Also thank you for building such a great vessel. I have been at anchor for three days in 50 knot winds, been in some pretty good head seas and caught at anchor in a crazy squall with 60 knot gusts and it is night and day versus my other vessel which was a solid coastal cruiser. We could not be happier with our decision to be part of the Outer Reef family.
